In 2020, as protests against racism and police brutality swept the nation, the country reignited a debate over the Confederate flag. As a result, the creators of the show, John Schneider and Tom Wopat, called for the flag to be removed from all Dukes of Hazzard merchandise.
The politically correct version of The Dukes of Hazzard includes digitally edited versions of various episodes, with the Confederate flag removed from the General Lee. However, many fans of the show have voiced their disapproval of these changes, arguing that they are unnecessary and censorious.
